8th October 2021

Dear parents/ carers,

I’m going to start the newsletter off this week with huge congratulations to Miss Branch on her brilliant marathon run on Sunday.  Well done KB we are all so proud of you.

1st Henham and Elsenham Scout Group:  You may recall back in the summer, the 1st Henham and Elsenham Scout Group had a pop up stall in Elsenham selling refreshments.  All proceeds were to be divided between Henham and Elsenham schools.  Today, I had the privilege of being presented a cheque for £206.87 by three members of the group, Juno, Seth and Abigail.  Such a super way to end the week, thank you so much!

If you have a child who is interested in joining the group, or would like to volunteer, please email

Peer mentoring:  Congratulations this week to our wonderful new Peer Mentors who have spent the last few weeks being trained to support their peers to build supportive places and happy lives.  Through a series of workshops, the children have had external training on healthy peer relationships, conflict resolution, strong resilience, positive influence and managing emotions.  Very well done and congratulations to:

Year 4: Seth R, Harry W, Esme, Olivia H and Archie

Year 5: Molly, Lyra, Wilf and Stanley

Year 6: Rex, George M, Daniel, Lucy and Tameema

We are all so proud of you!

Henham speed watch:  I have been contacted by Henham speed watch who have been able to resume their village traffic speed watch in the last few weeks.  They have observed many vehicles with children on board, travelling through Henham in excess of the 30mph limit.

Could I please request that all parents observe the 30mph speed limit to ensure a safe environment; thank you.

Mrs B!  I am delighted to be able to share with you the wonderful news that Mrs Brennan has had a beautiful baby girl; Margot Belle Brennan.  Margot was born on the 25th September, weighing 7lb 14oz.  Both Mrs B and Margot are doing well.  We send all our love to Mr and Mrs B as we welcome our new Henham baby!

Parent Governor Election:  A reminder that all nominations for the Parent Governor Vacancy must be received no later than Friday 15th October 2021.  Please do pop by to see me or drop me an email if you would like further information.

School photographs: We had a busy day Thursday with the school photographer here.  Keep hold of your card  with your individual barcode, as details of how to view and purchase photographs will be sent out soon!

PSA Design a Christmas card:  We have organised an exciting design a Christmas Card project with Prontaprint Bishops Stortford for this Autumn term.     Your child will soon be bringing home their design for a Christmas card, along with an order form.  As you will know, due to Covid restrictions, the PSA’s normal fundraising activities have been severely impacted this year, but the school still needs your help to raise much needed funds.

The Christmas card designs will be professionally printed and can be purchased for £5.50 for a pack of 12 cards bearing your child’s name on the back as the designer.  Each pack ordered raises £1 for the school.  Last year we raised a wonderful £173.50 and it would be wonderful to beat this figure this year.

You will also be able to order gift tags, wrapping paper and mugs of the same design.

Full information will be sent out with your child’s design soon!

Parents’ Evening:  A reminder that the link to book in for the parent evening sessions is now live on Scopay.  If you require any support in accessing, please do contact the office who will be happy to help.

House Points:  Well done to the PURPLE team who are our House Team winners again this week!
