In Year 2 Geography we have been looking at continents, oceans, countries, and landmarks. The children had fun putting together a whole class jigsaw of the world using their knowledge of the oceans and continents. We also enjoyed singing songs to help us remember the 7 continents and the 5 oceans.
As part of our Year 3 topic, ‘Extreme Earth’ we have been building a model Earth out of plasticine. The model shows clearly the different layers and children have been able to use this to then explain to others what the different layers are and give them some key information about the different layers. This also linked to our topic on instructions in English as we used the set of instructions on how to make a model Earth as our good example in our English lessons.
As part of our topic’ Enough for everyone’ Year 5 have be learning about renewable energy sources. The children made water turbines and experimented with how many times, in an allocated time, the wheel would turn. They investigated various sources of renewable and non-renewable energy supply.
As part of their Geography topic, Year 3 became Cartographers. We went out on a field trip around Henham looking at different landmarks and marking them on our sketch map as we went. Year 3 were brilliantly behaved the entire morning; listening to instructions and helping each other spot where to place their different landmarks. It was cold out but we had a lovely morning.
