Year 2 have been looking at how different religions celebrate at harvest time. Sukkahs are part of Judaism and are constructed at harvest time. They are made of three walls and a roof of foliage to let in natural light. The inside walls are decorated with foods that would be harvested at that time year. A feast would be created and consumed within the sukkah.
In year 4 RE, the children have been learning about Christianity. In today’s lesson children learned about the holy book of Christianity – The Bible. This culminated in a Bible hunt where the children learned how to navigate through the different books, chapters and verses within The Bible.
Year 5 have been focusing on Christianity and Islam. We have been looking at Art and music in both religions. Here is a photo of our Christian stained glass windows that we have used to decorate our classroom.
Year 6 researched how different religions teach the concept of peace. They also had to find out about the golden rule from each religion.
The children in Years 1 and 2 rehearsed and performed ‘Fireside Nativity’, which combined the worlds of both present-day and Biblical narrative of the Christmas story.
