15th October 2021

Dear parents/ carers,

I am starting this week’s newsletter with a huge thank you to the lovely Tameema in Year 6, who gave a presentation to Years 3 and 6 today about her Islamic faith, as well as answering questions from the children.     Tameema, you were a joy to listen to, I am so proud of you; well done!

In Year 3 on Tuesday, the children were able to enjoy a fabulous ‘Greek Day’, organised by Mrs Heaps, with her ever willing assistant, Mrs Parnell.  What a super day the children had dressing up and enjoying a range of activities, from dancing, archaeology and of course grape crushing and drinking their ‘home-made’ grape juice!  Absolutely brilliant!

Nuts/ Seeds: We have had incidents this week of children bringing in snacks which include nuts and seeds.  Can I just remind parents and carers that we have several children and staff in school that have severe nut allergies and therefore we request that children do not bring in any food items that contain nuts or seeds.  Thank you for your cooperation with this.

Essex ActivAte: is the new holiday activity and food programme run by Active Essex in partnership with Essex County Council and funded by the Department for Education. Working with a network of holiday club delivery partners the programme provides FREE face to face clubs for young people who are eligible for benefits based free school meals, as well as young people from working families who would benefit from this extra support. Clubs will include fun activities, including sports and arts & crafts, for at least 4 hours per day. Plus every child will get a healthy, tasty lunch!

October bookings are now open!  There are 22 clubs running in West Essex for the October half term. CLICK HERE TO VIEW THE BOOKING LINKS   Please also see the attached flyer for further information.

Parent Consultations and Clubs:  A reminder that next week due to parent consultations, the only club running will be the Football club: Tuesday, Years 1 and 2, Wednesday, Years 3 and 4 and Thursday, Years 5 and 6.

House Points:  What a close run battle it was this week!  Congratulations to the Blue and Green Teams who were joint first placed winners this week.

An appeal from Early Years:  Do you have a cycle helmet you no longer use, in good undamaged condition, that would be suitable for Nursery and Reception aged children?  If you do, Early Years would love to make use of it.  Please drop any donations to your child’s class teacher; thank you!

Finally, a reminder that next Friday is a non-pupil day.  Week 25th – 29th October is half term and Monday 1st November is a non-pupil day.

Have a great weekend everyone,  with my continued best wishes,

Kim
