5th November 2021

Dear parents/ carers,

Welcome back to the second half of the autumn term, I do hope you all had a super half term break and are raring to go for what looks like a busy half term, leading up to Christmas.

You may recall that a few weeks ago, a letter went out about the new leisure centre at Grange Paddocks and the opportunity for children over eight to meet and swim against some Olympian swimmers.

It was absolutely wonderful to find out last week that three of our pupils, Olivia H, Thomas H and George M along with Harry M, our former pupil, attended the event, with Thea H unable to swim as she is under eight, but enjoying the event too!  The new leisure centre was officially opened on the 23rd October by Colin Jackson followed by the big splash event. The children learnt swimming techniques from Grant Turner, 2012 Olympian and synchronized swimming with Katie Skelton, 2012 Aquabatix Olympian! Before learning essential life-saving skills!! To finish the event they raced an Olympian in a 25m sprint!!!

Such a fantastic opportunity and day to remember in a beautiful new facility!

What a super start Year 3 had this week with a lovely walk through Henham to help inspire them as part of their literacy work on autumnal poems.

Sporting news:  On Wednesday, our Year 6 children took part in their first face to face tag rugby event this year and what a super effort they all put in.

The children were split into three teams and I am delighted to let you know that the Henham Green team came second in the qualification tournament and have qualified for the USSP finals on the 2nd March.  Well done to Alex, Harry, Louis, Luke, Oscar L, Oscar P, Phoebe, Rex, and Sam.

The Red team, Abigail, Finley, George, Grace, Jack, Jude, Oliver, Rudi, Seth and William came 2nd and the Blue team, Alina, Christina, Grayson, Halle, Isla, Lucy, Poppy, Ruby, Sofia and Tameema came 5th in the participation event.

Huge congratulations to all children for their engagement and sportsmanship.

House Points:  Congratulations to the PURPLE Team who were our first placed winners this week.
