3rd January 2021

Dear Parents and Carers,

I do hope you all managed to have a good break and I wish you all a very happy new year.

Following on from my email on the 30th December, as you have no doubt been following in the news, positive cases in Essex are rising and Uttlesford remains one of three areas in Essex to keep open primary schools at the current time, however this remains uncertain as cases continue to rise across Uttlesford. All secondary schools will be closed at the start of term. The current situation is that our school will open to all pupils on Wednesday 6th January. However, you will have seen in the press that there are calls for all primary schools in Tier 4 areas to switch to remote learning for a short period.

I want to reassure you if this were to happen, then our teachers will be working really hard to ensure that the home learning provision is of a very high standard.

We have organised installation of an online remote learning platform for all children via Microsoft Teams.  Each child will have their own individual log in, which will be sent to you once staff  have received their training on this new platform (this is scheduled for Monday 11th January).   Full details of how to access etc, will be sent out in due course.  In the meantime, if remote learning is decided by Government before the 11th, staff will continue to use a mix of live lessons via zoom and pre-recorded sessions.

We will however, be required to provide places in school for children of Key Workers and any children deemed vulnerable.

So that we can plan for any required Key Worker in school provision accurately (for either now or in the coming months), please can you take a look at the Key Worker list below to see if your employment falls into this. If, in the event of a switch to remote learning, your child would need and qualify for a place at the in school key worker provision, please complete the survey following the link below.

PLEASE NOTE: You should only request a place for your child if both parents/carers are deemed key workers OR if you consider your child falls into a vulnerable category for example they have an EHCP.

The survey will close on Monday 4th January at 3 pm.

The survey link can also be found with the Key Worker list below.

Should the situation remain the same, we look forward to welcoming all the children back on Wednesday 6th January.

Additionally, I have had several emails from parents over the last few days advising that they do not intend to return their children to school next week.  As I’m sure you can appreciate, if the situation remains unchanged,  teachers will be classroom based each day and therefore the online provision will only be provided if a class bubble has to self-isolate or we are advised to move to remote learning.  Teachers will be unable to provide individual learning packs for children kept at home for any other reason.

As always, should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at head@henhamugley.essex.sch.uk

With my continued best wishes,

Kim
