3rd February 2023

Dear parents/ carers,

Thank you so much for your donations and support of the PSA Jumble sale last weekend.  On Saturday, a wonderful £486 was raised with the remaining jumble not sold being collected by Bags2School and still to be added to this total.  Thank you so much!

I have been asked by some parents about other ways you can support the school as we, along with other schools, face financial challenges with government funding in schools at an all time low, while day-to-day running costs continue to increase.

The Dragon Fund was set up to enable donations, either as one off or regular payments.

The Dragon Fund is overseen by a subset of our school governors and staff who act as trustees. They are accountable to the Governing Board in respect of money raised and decisions taken on how to allocate funds.

For more information on the Dragon Fund, please click here: https://henhamugley.essex.sch.uk/the-dragon-fund/

How do I donate? You can;

Make a one-off payment or set up a regular standing order from your bank account to the following account:

Account Name: The Dragon Fund

Bank: National Westminster Bank

Sort Code: 60-02-36

Account Number: 67825966

World Book Day (WBD) is on Thursday 2nd March and this year, in true traditional World Book Day style, we will be dressing up as our favourite book character.  If your child does not wish to dress up, they can come into school in their usual school uniform on this day instead.

Additionally, we would love for the children (and families) to take part in a ‘Reading in unusual places’ challenge.  Just take a photo of your child reading in their unusual place and to send it to us at: Reading@henhamugley.essex.sch.uk by Wednesday 1st March.  Please do not email them to your class teachers but use the specially set up email address instead.

We will choose 4 winners from across the school from Nursery/ Reception; Year 1/ Year 2; Year 3/ Year 4 and Year 5/ Year 6, who will each win a £10 voucher, to be presented on World Book Day.

I know parents and carers would love to join in too – and we certainly won’t be stopping you! We would love to see how the whole family reads in unusual places.  You can send in your picture to be added to our World Book Day display in school at the same address: Reading@henhamugley.essex.sch.uk

Please put in your child’s name and class in the subject line of the email.

If you are looking for some ideas for dressing up or anything else WBD related, please visit: https://www.worldbookday.com/

House Points: Well done to the GREEN Team who have taken first placed position this week!
