26th February 2021

Dear parents/ carers,

Welcome back to the start of the second half of the spring term.  As you already know, just one more week of home schooling left!

In readiness for the reopening of schools on the 8th March, I have attached our reopening guidance information as well as an updated home school agreement.

As I’m sure you’re aware, the return to school is mandatory for all children unless they have a shielding letter.

I appreciate that many children and parents may feel anxious about returning to school, especially if you or a family member is currently shielding. The reopening of schools, as with any other social situation, still involves a level of risk of infection with Covid-19, as this is simply due to increased contact with others.

I sincerely hope that you are reassured that we have done all that we can to minimise this risk by implementing a comprehensive series of safety measures, which is outlined in the full reopening guidance.  As always, I would urge you to get in contact with me, if, after reading the guidance, you still have concerns or require further information.

Parent Consultations, Wednesday 3rd and Thursday 4th March: Many of you have already signed up via Scopay, and the class teachers will be in contact directly with you to arrange the Teams or Zoom calls at the beginning of next week.

Breakfast and After School Club:  In line with the reopening, I am delighted to confirm that our wrap around provision will resume on the 8th March.  The booking process remains the same via Scopay.  If you need any support with this, please do contact Mrs Hipperson or Mrs Nicholls in the office, who will be happy to assist.

On a staffing note, Mrs Carter our Year 6 teacher and Deputy Head, will be leaving us on the 30th April; taking a break from teaching with a view to seek out new roles in the future.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mrs Carter for her hard work and commitment to the children and their families during the last four years.  We all wish her much happiness for the future.

As ever, my priority is the children, to ensure they have a wonderful final term at Henham, and I have secured an experienced year 6 teacher, Mr. David Jackson, to support the children through to the end of the summer term in readiness for their transition to secondary school.  Mr. Jackson will be in school before Mrs Carter leaves to ensure a smooth handover for the children.

Finally, a message from Essex County Council: We have been asked by the Department for Health and Social Care to help with piloting a new home testing service for families who have children attending school, twice weekly, as schools return.

Families will be able to access a link to order a box of 7 home test kits for their household. To be used by the adults in the household, not the primary aged children.

Schools have been asked to share the attached letter with our parent community today.

Have a fabulous weekend everyone, with best wishes,

Kim
