25th March 2022

Dear parents/ carers,

A very short newsletter this week so you can enjoy the last rays of sunshine before the temperature is forecast to drop next week!

A message from year 5:  Year 5 have been learning about plant and animal lifecycles.  We thought it would be really interesting to watch the metamorphosis of some frogspawn as they develop into tadpoles and froglets.  If anyone has a spare fish tank (or similar) they would be willing to lend to the class and/or some frogspawn we could look after that would be fantastic.  Please let Mrs Aves or Mrs Brogan know if you are able to help us, thank you!

A message from Mrs Espie: Essex Libraries are hosting ‘Circus at the library’.  Visit Dunmow library on Wednesday 6th April 10.00-10.30 (although I think the event lasts all day) for fun circus themed activities for all the family, including games, a special themed story time, a trail, and activities.  No booking is required.  Stansted library is also hosting the same event on Tuesday 12th April, from 9am.  (Baby and toddler Rhymetime will be taking place at their usual time of 10.30am).

Why not participate in Essex libraries, ‘Big Easter Book Hunt’ between the 2nd and 23rd April.  Golden tickets will be hidden in books across the county.  Should your child find one, they will be entered into a prize draw to win a Lenovo Tab M7 Android Tablet.  Terms and Conditions do apply.  For more information, please see https://libraries.essex.gov.uk/news/big-easter-book-hunt/

Finally, author of ‘The Orphans of St. Halibut’ Sophie Wills is hosting a free event suitable for children aged 7-11 at Springfield Library, Chelmsford on Thursday 14th April, 10.30-11.30. (Tickets were still available at the time of sharing this information).  As well as hearing about Sophie’s books, children will also create their own amazing character.  This Essex Year of Reading Event is free to attend, but tickets must be booked in advance.

Next week:  Next week is the last week of the spring term!  A reminder that on Friday 1st April, children will need to be collected between 1pm and 1.15pm, to start the Easter holidays.

There will be no after school provision on Friday 1st April; wrap around provision will resume on Tuesday 19th April, when we welcome all children back to school for the start of the summer term.

Have a super weekend everyone,

Kim
