24th March 2023

Dear Parents/Carers,

I would like to start this newsletter by saying thank you so much for the love, support, kind words, cards and messages I have received, following the announcement of my resignation this week.

Being the Headteacher of Henham for the last six years has been the most incredible journey and privileged experience, in my education career.  We have been through so much together; especially during the Covid pandemic, lockdowns and home schooling.

My over-riding aim when I took over as leader of Henham was to create a culture of strength, togetherness, compassion and kindness, within our very special community.

These values certainly rang true during Covid and I will always be so proud of the way we all supported and came together during this very difficult time.

I am so immensely proud of my school team; they work tirelessly to always doing their best and knowing that we share the same values, although I will not be here in September, this deep commitment to doing their best, I know will continue.

Even though the pandemic may be over in the eyes of some, the lasting impact of this period cannot be underestimated. I felt my purpose moving forward was to maintain the level of community as we move into a new but equally challenging stage; the cost of living crisis, educational shortages and challenges with mental health.

I have given everything I have to Henham, it really has been so much more than ‘a job’ to me; I feel so privileged and proud that you have allowed me to become part of your families, but it is time for me to move onto a new challenge, .

My resignation is filled with sadness that I am leaving you all after everything we have worked through, but such pride in knowing how far we have come and how we have all worked together.  My request now as Henham moves to a new phase, is to put your faith and trust in the Governing Board to recruit a new leader that will continue to drive the school forward and become part of this wonderful community.

The Governing Board will keep you updated as relevant to this process but in the meantime, if you do have any worries or concerns, please do speak to me.  I will be here until the end of the summer term, and as it has always been, Henham will remain first and foremost.  Kim x

Dance Festival:  A huge well done to Year 1 and 2 for their performances in the Key stage 1 dance festival, which was hosted at Henham on Thursday.  With five schools taking part and 8 dances performed, all of the children did so well and we are so proud of them all; well done everyone!

Year 1 request:  Mrs Espie has asked for donations of complete jigsaw puzzles that have up to 50 pieces.  If you have a jigsaw you would be happy to donate, they can be given directly to Mrs Espie in the Year 1 classroom.

Thank you! Mrs Gill in our Nursery class, would like to thank you for the wonderful donations of plant pots, seeds, gardening equipment, pallets, guttering and log slices they have received; you are so generous, thank you! Mrs Gill advises we have plenty of resources now and they are looking forward to having a garden centre up and running when the weather improves after Easter.

Coffee Morning at Henham and Ugley Primary School

Tuesday 18th April at 8.45am

Tuesday 2nd May at 8.45am.

Is your child struggling with mild to moderate anxiety such as worries or fears, low mood or challenging behaviour at home?

Please do come along for a coffee and meet the staff from Mental Health Support Teams in Schools Uttlesford who are about to start work in our school.  This will be an informal chat with parents about the services they offer, what they can provide and the support that there is available.

Both sessions will be the same. Everybody welcome.

Mental Health Support Teams in Schools Uttlesford, part of Mind in West Essex, is a new service for children, young persons and their parents/carers. We support mental health and emotional wellbeing, focusing on early intervention.

We work with the parents/carers as research shows us this is more effective because you know your child best. We also work with the school, providing staff training and workshops focused on mental health and wellbeing.

Some things we can support you with are challenging behaviour, low mood or mild to moderate anxiety such as worries, fears etc.

COMMUNITY SCHOOL NURSE DROP IN SESSIONS
