24th June 2022

Dear parents/ carers,

Another week has flown by and we are as busy as ever.  On Tuesday, we welcomed our new Reception 2022 starters into school for their first induction session.  What a wonderful afternoon it was.  We look forward to seeing you all next week!

On Thursday, we hosted the Key Stage 1 athletics festival, and welcomed four other schools from the Uttlesford Schools Sports Partnership (USSP) to join us.  Prior to the event, sports coaches from the USSP came in to deliver sessions to Years 5 and 6 so they could support the younger children on the day.

There was a large carousel of fun athletic activities for the children to complete. Everyone was so impressed with how organised, motivating and helpful the Year 5 and 6 students were and they did a wonderful job of boosting moral and helping the KS1 children with each activity. James in Year 2 said “I liked it very much because the set-ups were fun. My favourite activity was throwing the bean bags into the hoops.” Thea in Year 2 also commented “It was fun because I liked that the Year 5 and 6’s helped us.”

Thank you to the children from years 5 and 6, we are all so proud of you for your support, organisation and encouragement before, during and after the event.  Well done to the children across KS1; it was such a great afternoon!

In more sporting news, this week the Year 5’s attended a rounders tournament at Howe Green.  Thank you to Harry for this report:

On Thursday the year 5 class went to a Rounder’s Tournament at Howe Green House School.   Team A came 5th and Team B came joint second.  Our bowlers who stood out included Charlie H, Louis and George.  And our batters who stood out included Franklin, Persephone, Charlie N and Lewis.  Although it was raining when we left school, it got better and turned out to be a lovely sunny day.  Although I couldn’t join in I had fun watching and being an assistant umpire and team cheerleader. Everyone had a great event.  By Harry W, Year 5.

You may recall the information and link sent out a couple of weeks ago for the Michael Rosen online event.  The event was recorded if you want to see it again or missed it, and can be found here: Essex Year of Reading – Michael Rosen

The PSA will be at the school gates next week selling raffle tickets, which will be drawn at the summer fete on Saturday 2nd July.  If you would like more tickets for friends and family, just let us know.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone, with best wishes,

Kim
