Dear parents/ carers,
It’s here – the 1st of July! We really are in the final stages of this school year!
Of course, tomorrow (Saturday 2nd July, we have the PSA School Summer Fete, between 11am-3pm.
The raffle will be drawn at the fete, but don’t worry if you haven’t purchased your tickets yet, or want more, they will still be available tomorrow.
A huge thank you to the lovely PSA crew for all their hard work in putting this event together.
We look forward to seeing you there!
PSA Readathon: You will have received both the electronic and hard copy of the information for the Readathon already. We have extended the deadline for this event to Friday 14th July – happy reading!
Staffing: I am delighted to let you know, following interviews held this week, that Mrs Brogan has been appointed as Assistant Headteacher at Henham.
Our Senior Leadership Team from September will be:
Kim Hall, Nicky Brogan, Jules Cowell and Kate Barford.
A report from Isla, Year 5: On Wednesday, children from Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 went to Carver Barracks for the district sports tournament. Henham can 3rd out of 9 schools. It was a delightful adventure and out of 9 schools, 3rd is amazing. We all tried our hardest and had a pleasant time with all the sporting activities. We all participated in our given sports, high jump, 600 and 400 metre runs, 75 metre sprint, standing long jump and the howler, are some of the sports included. The relay was a team event and every team did well.
Online safety: The 2 Johns will be presenting an online session to parents and carers, looking at the online world and how young people are using it. It will explore how they are navigating around restrictions and using the internet without parents knowledge. To join this event on Thursday 11th July at 7.30pm, please use: this zoom link
The Brook School Visit: This week, myself, Jules Cowell and our well-being governor, Jo Goldsmith, went to visit The Brook School in Tottenham. The aim of the visit was to look at the structure of another setting – (this one is very unusual with a special needs school and mainstream school sharing the same site), as well as make a connection for future class activities with a school that has a very different demographic to Henham.
We had a fantastic day and were made to feel so welcome. The day ended with a presentation by the children at The Brook School, of a portrait completed in celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
Huge thanks to Jo Goldsmith for organising and Sukina Campos, the Deputy Headteacher for enabling us to make this very special link. We look forward to welcoming The Brook to Henham in the future and collaborating to expand the children’s experiences.
School photographs – VIEWING CARDS: Following Pret-a-Portrait’s recent visit to take school photographs, a viewing card explaining how you can view and order pictures, was sent home on Tuesday 21st June. If you haven’t seen it already, please ask your children to give it to you as soon as possible so you have a chance to order any pictures you would like at a discounted price before the Early Bird Deadline 05/07/2022
