22nd April 2022

Dear parents/ carers,

Welcome back to the start of the summer term.

We have lots going on this term, some details are below and I’ve also put some key dates in at the end of this newsletter as a reference with more information to follow nearer the time.

Latest Covid information for schools:  While “living with covid-19” represents a general return to ‘normality’, guidance remains that individuals should stay at home in certain circumstances to help prevent the spread of infection

Pupils will attend school unless they are unwell.  There is no expectation to take a LFT or PCR.  Where parents choose to test a child with symptoms and the test is positive, you are advised to keep your child at home for 3 days.  During this time, schools are no longer required to provide online learning.

If your child has symptoms of Covid-19, and a high temperature or does not feel well enough to attend school or do normal activities, they should:

Stay at home and avoid contact with other people

Avoid meeting people at higher risk from COVID-19, especially if their immune system means they’re at higher risk of serious illness from Covid-19, even if they’ve had a Covid-19 vaccine.

You can go back to your normal activities if you:

Feel well enough to do so

Do not have a high temperature

The same rules apply to adults, but with a stay at home guidance of 5 days if you have chosen to test and a positive result is returned.

Staffing news:  Congratulations to our lovely Miss Jeremy who is expecting her first child in the autumn term.  As I’m sure you are aware, contracting chicken pox and other infectious illnesses during pregnancy can cause harm for both Mum and the unborn child.

Could you please therefore let the school know if your child develops an infectious rash; thank you.

Mental Health Day, Friday 29th April:  As part of our Mental Health day, the children will be engaged in lots of fun (and possibly muddy!) activities.  We have therefore decided next Friday will be a non-uniform day.  If your child usually has PE, they should still come into school in suitable clothing and footwear for their activities and PE session.

ACL ESSEX Community and Family Learning: the ACL Essex team supports parents with their parenting role – family wellbeing, parenting, SEND support, early years, starting school (primary and secondary), understanding the curriculum (Maths, English, STEM) and other specialist workshops.  Please see the attached flyer for information of courses available.
