13th May 2022

Dear parents/ carers,

I’m going to start this week by congratulating our wonderful Year 6’s who sat their SATs tests this week.  This is the first time they have been statutory in two years.

Mrs Fleming and Mrs Miley did a fabulous job at preparing the children in the lead up, which ensured that all the children coped brilliantly, during what could be, a very stressful time for children.

It was a whole school effort in ensuring the rules were followed – they are very strict!  So thank you to my wonderful staff for supporting this process.

Now that that’s over, Year 6 can focus on getting ready for the activities planned for the rest of the summer term.

To kick this off, we had the delivery of the Year 6 leavers hoodies yesterday – what excitement!  Look out for the children wearing these each day, if it’s anything like previous years, these hoodies will be glued to their backs until the end of July!

Continuing with our super Year 6’s, it is so lovely to see our oldest children supporting our youngest members of school.  A message from Mrs Barford:  I’m so proud of our year 6’s, after getting through SATs, they went along to our Reception class and taught them some new skills with a football coaching session.  The children in Cherry Class said they had ‘the best time ever!’  Year 6 were just amazing with the children, showing patience, kindness, enthusiasm and encouragement – well done Year 6!

Some children from Years 1 and 2 went along to RA Butler this week to take part in a fun sporting event.  What a super time they all had!  Well done for your enthusiasm and energy Chloe, Eban, Freddie, Orson, Reggie and Silas.

Writing competition:  Thank you for the entries so far, you’ve still got time to enter Mrs Brogan’s Jubilee writing competition.  Prize winners will be announced at our Jubilee celebrations on the afternoon of Friday 27th May.

Are you planning ahead for activities in June?  HENHAM OPEN GARDENS is on Sunday 12th June 2022, 11am – 6pm, with all proceeds going towards the upkeep of the village hall.  Please see the attached flyer for full details of what’s going on, including the competition ‘find the gnome home!’

Finally, if you’re looking for something to do this weekend, how about popping along to Henham Tennis Club?

Henham Tennis Club holds its annual open day this Sunday 15th  May between 2 and 5pm. There will be mini tennis for children, a ball machine for adults, a barbecue and cakes. All are welcome, from beginners to Andy Murray!

Whatever you are up to, have a super weekend,

Kim
