Dear parents/ carers,

I would like to start this newsletter with a thank you to my wonderful staff for keeping everything running smoothly in my absence this week.  After two years of escaping Covid, it finally got me on Monday!

My staff really are just the best and I feel so fortunate to have such a wonderfully supportive group around me.

A warm welcome this week to Miss Cave and Miss Isaacs who are completing their final teaching practice at Henham.  Welcome to the Henham team!

Sports news this week:

Tag Rugby – Year 4, a report from Miss Gilbert: Thursday this week, I had the absolute pleasure of taking eight Year 4 children to Carver Barracks for a Tag Rugby tournament.

The sun was shining and a warm breeze blew across the field. We played a total of six games; we won two, lost three & drew one. The behaviour of our children was outstanding and I was so proud of them. There were 12 teams, we came an incredible joint 4th.   Well done to Harry M, Ben M, Teddy C, Alfie Mc, Lara P, Leah B, Olivia S and Olivia H.

Year 5/ 6 football:  After two years of not being able to play a football match against another school, at Thursday’s after school football club, the children were al able to get involved in playing against St Mary’s Stansted.  How brilliant that everyone got to be part of the match!  Well done team!

House Points:  Well done to the Red Team who have taken the first placed position this week!

Year 3 Dance Festival report from Mrs Heaps:  Watch out Ant & Dec, Year 3 are Ready to Rhumble! On Wednesday they performed their dance in front of 600 people – it was absolutely fantastic. They were the first primary school class to do a dance, following performances from gymnastics clubs and a dance from secondary school pupils. They sat in awe watching these, commenting how incredible they were and then got themselves up, marched on stage and knocked our socks off! They showed such resilience and did the whole dance with a smile on their faces. We were so proud and they represented Henham & Ugley brilliantly. Thank you to Miss Burnham for choreographing and teaching the dance and Mrs Parnell for taking the lead on the rehearsals whilst Mrs Heaps cheered from the sidelines!

Henry, Year 3, a report from Mrs Parnell:  Big well done to Year 3’s Henry M for teaching his class a geography lesson this week on their topic of rainforests. Henry impressed everyone with his prepared PowerPoint and fun class quiz full of interesting information on the inhabitants of rainforests. Everyone, including Mrs Heaps and Mrs Parnell learned so much from Henry’s amazing knowledge! You should be very proud Henry!

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend and I look forward to being back on the gate soon!
