4th September 2020

Dear parents/ carers,

Welcome back to the start of the autumn term!  It has been such a great start to this new way of operating and I can’t thank you all enough for your positivity towards the changes we have had to make to ensure the full reopening is as safe as possible for everyone.

It has been wonderful to welcome the children back, they have taken the adjustments in their stride and I am so proud of them.

A warm welcome to, to our new Reception children and parents; it certainly isn’t easy having to drop our youngest children at the class gate, but, as with all the classes, the children (and parents), have coped brilliantly and already settled in so well!

It has been a busy summer with improvements to the school finally being able to go ahead after the initial cancellations in March.  The replacement of the hall corridor flooring and new toilets has been completed and we are all thrilled with the results!

You may have noticed our lovely new fencing around the Early Years area, which looks so much bigger now!

Additionally, there have been adjustments made inside the school, with the addition of our new well-being hub. This area will provide a much needed in school area for children to receive additional support.  More information about how this space will be utilised will follow in the coming weeks.

Finally, I’m sure you won’t have missed the scaffolding around the school building!  The roofing works are finally going ahead and should be completed by the end of October.

As you already know, we are currently unable to run after school activity clubs, however if you require before or after school child care, our breakfast and after school provision is up and running and you can book a slot online via Scopay.  If you haven’t used this facility before or are unsure how to book a slot, please do get in touch with Mrs Hipperson or Mrs Nicholls in the school office: admin@henhamugley.essex.sch.uk who will be happy to help.

Gym Trail: Due to the current restrictions in place, gym trail is unable to take place at the moment.  We will be back in touch if this changes.

House Captains: I am delighted to let you know that the applications and voting for the Year 6 House Captains has taken place.  Well done to all the children who put themselves forward, you should be very proud of yourselves.

Congratulations to our Year 6 House Captains:

Blue House Abigail and Sebastien
Green House Henry and Maisie
Purple House Millie and Noah
Red House Heidi and Kaleb

The appointment of the Eco and School Council representatives will take place next week.

Can you help?  Do you have any empty trigger bottles?  Due to the amount of antibacterial spray and Milton being used (which we purchase in bulk in large containers), we are in need of empty trigger bottles that we can refill.  If you have any empty bottles, there will be a box by the school notice board from next week, where you can leave them for us, thank you.

As always, should you have any concerns, worries, questions – anything at all, my door is always open.  You can find me on the playground at drop off and after school most days. Or I can be contacted at head@henhamugley.essex.sch.uk  If you would like to speak to your child’s class teacher, after school is the best time as the mornings are rather busy ensuring the children settle into class and we try to minimise the numbers on the school grounds.  Alternatively, you can always email or call Mrs Hipperson or Mrs Nicholls in the school office, who will be happy to arrange an appointment for you.

Thank you all for your support, here’s to a great term!
