30th April 2021

Dear parents/ carers,

I’ll keep this week’s newsletter brief so you can start the bank holiday weekend!

Clubs: A reminder that clubs start up again next week.  The registers have now been completed and payment information is on Scopay for those that have signed up to attend.

If your child is attending a sports club on a day that isn’t their class PE session, the children are more than welcome to come into school in PE kit on this day to save changing at the end of the day.

Non-Pupil date June 2021:  I can now confirm that the non-pupil date for this June is Monday 21st June and not Monday 7th June.

Term Dates 2021-22: The school term and holiday dates for the next academic year have been released and I can confirm that our non-pupil days for 2021-22 are as follows:

Wednesday 1st September 2021- We will welcome children back to school on Thursday 2nd September.

Friday 22nd October 2021 – half term is Monday 25th – Friday 29th October

Monday 1st November 2021 – We will welcome the children back on Tuesday 2nd November

Tuesday 4th January 2022 – We will welcome children back after Christmas on Wednesday 5th January 2022

Monday 6th June 2022

This information will also be posted on our school website by half term.

Punctuality: Can I please ask that your child is in class by 8.55am each morning.  From next week I will be closing the school gates promptly at 8.55am and anyone arriving after this time will need to enter school via the front office; thank you.

A message from Miss Branch – Sports Lead: The whole school has taken part in ‘England does the daily mile’ today, which was an event aiming to get 1 million school children and adults across England taking part in the daily mile between 9am and 3.30pm. All classes from Reception to Year 6 took part running or walking the daily mile around the school field. Even though we take part in the daily mile each day to improve the children’s fitness, it was great to see all the children and adults engaged in this nationwide activity throughout the day.

Headteacher awards:

Well done to the following children who have received my headteacher award last week and today:

Reception Class Florentina.S Poppy.S
Year 1 Ned.C Juno.L
Year 2 Maxwell.H Mila.P
Year 3 Lara.P Harry.W
Year 4 Louis.C Pawel.W
Year 5 Tameema.A Lucy.R
Year 6 Delilah.S Alec.S

Mrs Carter: Today we have said a fond farewell to Bex Carter, our year 6 teacher and Deputy Head.  Over the last four and a half years Bex has been a fantastic source of knowledge at Henham, she has delighted us with her sense of humour, amazed us with her phenomenal vocabulary and more recently, wowed us with her incredible artwork.

Sadly we weren’t able to have a leavers assembly to celebrate Bex’s time at Henham, but staff were able to meet in a covid secure way after school to celebrate Bex and present her with a leaving gift.

We all wish Bex much happiness as she starts her next adventure!

Have a wonderful bank holiday weekend everyone and we look forward to welcoming the children back on Tuesday 3rd May.

Best wishes,

Kim
