Dear Parents,
This week we welcomed our Reception class 2019 to their first induction session in Cherry class. I think we all
remember the excitement of the first day at school, tinged with a bit of trepidation. What a fabulous time the
children had exploring the reception classroom where they painted with cars and shaving foam, tried out the
ActivPanel, built lots of super things from Lego and much more. Mrs Barford and Mrs Hampton had a lovely
time beginning their journey in getting to know our lovely new Cherry Class children. It was certainly a very
busy hour! We are looking forward to welcoming our new arrivals again on Tuesday.
Parents, meanwhile, enjoyed a chat and refreshments in the school hall provided by two of our Governors,
Lindy and Kamilah – thank you both for the delicious cake and tea.

School Fete – Saturday 29th June – 12-3pm
The last of the fete preparations are well underway and we are really excited to see you all tomorrow! Our
fete committee comprising of parents from Year 5 and Year 4 have worked incredibly hard arranging stalls,
inflatables (please remember to send a pair of socks for your child to wear whilst bouncing), raffle, BBQ, bar
and much, much more. They have asked that you bring your own water bottles so that we can re-fill them
instead of using disposable cups.

Class Photographs – Friday 5th July
Our school photographers, Pret a Portrait, will be in school on the morning of 5th July to take whole class
photos. We’ll let you know when viewing cards arrive so that you can order the photographs on-line.

Mental Health Awareness Day – M Day – Tuesday 9th July
Information from Mrs Cowell……We are very excited that we will be holding our first M Day on Tuesday 9th
July. The aim of M Day is to raise the children’s awareness of looking after their emotional wellbeing and
mental health. All of the school will be taking part in a range of fun activities such as: spending time in nature in our
allotment area; playing board games; learning new playground games and Boot Camp. In addition, Key Stage
1 will be doing some Yoga and Key Stage 2 will be having a campfire and toasting marshmallows (weather
permitting).
Please could we ask that all children wear non-uniform on the 9th July but that they wear appropriate clothes
they can exercise in and might possibly get dirty (preferably trousers or shorts). Also we would like all pupils
to bring a board game to school on the 9th July so that they can play with their friends such as: Connect 4,
Guess Who, Top Trumps, Chess, Battleships, Snap. Dominoes, Monopoly, Cluedo (no hand-held games
consoles or Lego please). Thank you for your support.

Sports Day – Friday 12th July
Henham sports day is fast approaching and we are all looking forward to the competitive and fun sporting
events we have planned. More details to follow next week.

Clubs Autumn Term
We are beginning to look at our clubs provision from September 2019 and would love to hear from any
parents or grandparents who would be interested in offering an after school club. For example, are any of you
budding chess champions who would like to share your skills and enthusiasm? Do any of you speak another
language that you could teach through fun games, role-play etc? Knitting, Crafts, Cheerleading, Baking…. If
interested, please do speak to Mrs Hipperson or Mrs Nicholls in the school office so that they can carry out a
DBS check.
