Dear Parents,

First of all, I would like to say thank you for such a warm welcome on my return to school; it is wonderful to be back!

As we near the end of the summer term, here is a brief roundup of what’s been happening over the last few weeks and information for our last three days. My final newsletter of the term will be sent next week.

This week saw the Year 5 and 6 production, and what a great job they did.  The singing and choreography was superb.  A huge well done to all the children and to the staff and volunteers who worked together to make this production a success.  Thank you to Toby’s Mum and Dad (Wright Event Supplies), for once again providing the lighting.  If you would like a DVD of the production, please do contact Mrs Hipperson or Mrs Nicholls in the school office.

Congratulations – A huge well done to the children who entered the 2019 World Book Day Competition organised by London Stansted Airport.  I am thrilled to let you know that Lexi and Seth in Year 1 are two of the lucky winners, and their work will appear in ‘The London Stansted Little Book of Travel Tales’ this summer!

Both Lexi and Seth have been invited to attend the launch of the book at Stansted on Thursday 25th July, and they, along with the other winners, will have the chance to hand out the very first copies of the book to young passengers travelling through the terminal on this day.

Congratulations Lexi and Seth!

Attendance – On Friday, I had the pleasure of giving out certificates, stickers and pencils to the children who had achieved 100% attendance over the year – a fantastic achievement! (Calculated up to 15.7.19).

Children who had an attendance of 98% and above, also received a certificate and sticker – this is the schools yearly attendance target. Well done to you all!

Our 100% attendance awards went to:

Year R –  Amelia, Year 1 – Esme, Holly and Lexi; Year 2 – Edward, Lewis and Thomas; Year 3 – Alex, Isla, Oscar L and Oscar P; Year 4 – Heidi and Summer; Year 5 – Clemence, Emily, Hannah and Kitty; Year 6 – Ella, Holly, Joshua and Maya.

PSA – I am delighted to let you know that the calculations are complete, and I can now confirm that the total money raised from the annual school fete was a whopping £2312.69!  Thank you so much to the PSA for all their hard work in organising the event, and of course to the numerous volunteers and helpers on the day, the organising team from Years 4 and 5, and of course to everyone that supported on the day.

The PSA and school are currently prioritising how best to use the funds and planning is underway for the next events in the autumn term; thank you for your on-going support!

Sports Day – What a fantastic day we had!  Thank you to everyone that supported this wonderful day.  Well done to the Red Team, who were the overall cup winners!

Wool Appeal! – Mrs Jarrett (Mrs Espie’s mum) is going to be spending the summer knitting dolly clothes and accessories for the children in EYFS.  If you have any spare wool, Mrs Jarrett would love to put it to good use!  The wool can be dropped off to the school office or Mrs Espie in year 1 before Wednesday – thank you!

Lunch Wednesday 24th July – please note, on the last day of the term there is a change to the menu.  On this day only, there will be a picnic lunch, therefore, there will be no hot option.  Baguettes with a choice of fillings will be available.

Outstanding payments – as we fast approach the end of the year, could you please ensure that any outstanding monies are paid.  If you are having difficulty or would like to discuss this further, please do contact me or alternatively, Mrs Hipperson or Mrs Nicholls in the school office; thank you.

School Nurse Drop-in – On Tuesday 23rd July at Little Gosling’s Children Centre, Great Dunmow, there is a school nurse drop-in between 3.00pm and 4.30pm – no appointment is necessary.  The next drop in after this will be in September.

Two final points – could I ask that the children bring in a bag next week so they can transport home any books or artwork they would like to keep, and a reminder that on the last day of the term (Wednesday 24th July), as school finishes at 1.15pm, children will need to be collected at this time.

Have a wonderful final few days!

Best wishes,

Kim Hall
