Music

What is Music?

Music in its various forms is woven into our curriculum and day-to-day learning.

Musical productions are a regular feature in our school calendar with each year group performing in a show at some point during the academic year. For the younger children, it’s a Christmas-themed play. For our older children, it’s a summer performance.

Class sharing assemblies also happen termly. This often includes a musical element! Friends and family are invited to attend.

Intent- Music

Our Music curriculum at Henham & Ugley aims to install and encourage all students to develop a passion for music. We wish to produce enthusiastic, confident and knowledgeable musicians.Music is part of our DNA at Henham. We recognise the huge benefits it brings to the children in terms of enhancing learning, concentration and dexterity. Also, we place great importance on the fun and sense of achievement it provides and the confidence it builds.

Instrument Tuition

As well as offering one-to-one brass lessons, children at Henham can also learn the guitar, piano, drums and various string and wind instruments, including recorder. If your child is interested, please speak to Mrs Hipperson or Mrs Nicholls in the office.

Music Performances

Children have the opportunity to perform in Music Showcases to the school throughout the year. Anyone who wishes to take part can do so, whether they learn their instrument in or out of school. Children who enjoy singing also showcase their talents and the confidence gained by the children from such opportunities is immeasurable.
