18th June 2021

Dear parents/ carers,

Well that was a very wet start to the end of the week this morning!  Thankfully the sun was shining on Wednesday when the children from years 1 to 6 were able to take part in the quad kids event, led by two sports coaches from the Uttlesford Schools Sports Partnership.  What a super day they had.  The coaches were so impressed with the levels of fitness of the children and remarked they were the fittest children they had taught in Uttlesford this term!

Continuing with congratulations, well done to the following children who have received my Headteachers award this week:

Nursery Jesse P
Reception Finn L
Year 1 Ella-Rose P
Year 2 Aiden H
Year 3 Seth L
Year 4 Charlie H
Year 5 Ruby P & George C
Year 6 Summer L

PSA Readathon Bingo!  There’s still time to take part in the PSA Readathon Bingo Challenge throughout June!  All money raised will be going towards the refurbishment of our school library.   Keep a look out for the pictures on the notice board outside school of the children completing the challenge! If you haven’t sent your picture in yet and you’re happy for the pictures to be shared, please send them to keeleypsa@henhamugley.essex.sch.uk

Sex and Relationship Education (SRE):  we still have some families that haven’t indicated if they give consent for their child to take part in the lessons being delivered from Tuesday next week, as part of the SRE element of the curriculum.  If you don’t indicate either way by the end of Monday 21st June, we will remove your child from the lessons.  The forms to select your choice can be accessed here:  https://forms.office.com/r/sbfpbfZvgw

If you have any questions or concerns regarding this, please do get in touch with your child’s class teacher.

Henham 10k and 3k – 12th June – 27th June: – Well done to all those that have completed the course so far.  If you didn’t sign up before the 12th June, don’t worry, you can still take part.  Full information can be found here: www.henham10k.org.uk

ACL – Community and Family Learning: Please find attached ACL’s latest FREE intergenerational learning sessions available to parents/carers/grandparents supporting children and young people, living in Essex.

Staffing: I know many of you are keen to know, and now that the recruitment of a full time teacher and maternity cover has been formalized, I can confirm the following with regard to where teachers will be in September:

Reception Class Mrs Kate Barford
Year 1 Mrs Suzie Espie
Year 2 Miss Elena Jeremy
Year 3 Mrs Holly Heaps and Mrs Catherine Patten
Year 4 Miss Katrina Branch
Year 5 Mrs Helen Aves and Mrs Nicky Brogan
Year 6 Mrs Lindsay Flemming

I am delighted to welcome Mrs Flemming, Mrs Heaps and Mrs Patten to the Henham team; all very experienced teachers.  During this term, they will spend time with us in preparation for September.  The children will get an opportunity to meet them properly later this term.

Finally, a reminder that we have a Non-pupil day on Monday 21st June.  I look forward to seeing you all back on Tuesday 22nd June.

Have a super weekend everyone,  with my continued best wishes,

Kim
