Dear Parents,

What a wet week this has been! Unfortunately this has led to two sporting events being cancelled or postponed; KS2 Quad Kids event is now taking place next Friday 21st June and we await further news on the Year 6 Girls Kwick Cricket finals. However, the downpours haven’t prevented two school trips taking place and as you will see, children and staff all had a fabulous time:

Year 3 and 4 trip to Hatfield Forest on Monday 10th June

A report from Miss Branch… Nothing, not even the rain, could dampen the children’s and adult’s spirits in Years 3 and 4 this week! We enjoyed a brilliant trip to Hatfield Forest where the children took part in den building, working together as a team (including adults) to collect wood and build a den. Some teams created campfires and seesaws for the outside space around their den! For the rest of the day both year groups took part in map reading activities, using grid references to establish where they were and decide upon a route in order to collect different letters at points around the forest. The children were full of enthusiasm, and chatted animatedly about the day during and after.

Reception and Year 1 trip to Southend Sealife Centre on Tuesday 11th June

A report from Charlie in Year 1 (his own words)…. ‘‘We had to show the lady our wristbands to go inside. When we got inside we saw lots and lots of fish. Also we saw sting rays and we saw crocodiles. They had sharp teeth. We saw seahorses and sharks too, and we saw lots of jellyfish. We had an ice cream on the beach. At the beach I found lots of shells. After lunch we carried on and we saw lots more. It was really fun and I loved it, so fun, I loved it. It was the best day ever. I just couldn’t believe how much effort the teachers put in!’

Many thanks to the band of parents and grandparents for your help and support on our trips.

Year 3-5 Tag Rugby Club from Tuesday 18th June

As you may be aware, Fred Frindle who kindly runs our Year 3-5 Tag Rugby Club on Tuesdays, has not been well. We have covered the club internally for several weeks but due to other commitments, staff will not be able to run the club from next week. Sincere apologies for any disappointment caused by the cancellation of this club.

School Photographers – Pret a Portrait

Our school photographers, Pret a Portrait, are having a special promotion of photographs that they have taken, both this year and in previous years. If you would like more details, please see attached leaflet. Our school receives a commission on all photographs purchased which we will put to good use!

Scooters and Bikes

We are pleased to see so many children coming to school on their bikes and scooters, enjoying the fresh air and exercise before the start of the school day. Could we please request that they are stored in the bike sheds, well away from the fire doors and do not block any paths. Many thanks.
