3rd May 2019

Dear Parents,

As you know I was able to send the Ofsted Inspection report out yesterday, following their visit at the end
of March. I would like to thank those of you who completed the Parent View Questionnaire on the Ofsted
website and for the wonderful words of support both before, during and since sending out the report
yesterday.

During the visit, the children were fantastic throughout and it was wonderful to be able to share the report
with them in assembly this morning; I am incredibly proud of them all.

Additionally, a huge thank you to our staff team and Governing Board at Henham, who work hard every
day to ensure that the children receive the best possible start to their education.

Finally, thank you for working with us and supporting the school. I am incredibly proud of our school and
feel very privileged to be the Headteacher here at Henham.

Sports this week:

Key Stage 1 Athletics: A report from Mrs Espie – On Wednesday afternoon Years 1 and 2 represented our
school beautifully at the Key Stage 1 Athletics Festival held at Forest Hall School. After the excitement of
travelling in a double decker coach, they actively participated in a round robin of seven different athletics
events, ranging from relay racing to obstacle courses, throwing howlers, to practising long jumps. The various
activities were run by Year 8 pupils from Forest Hall, and our children demonstrated how well they listened to
instructions, followed demonstrations, took turns and co-operated, as well as cheering each other along. They
were so well mannered throughout.

Special thanks must also go to our house captains Anna, Enzo, Charlie and Chloe, who accompanied us at
the event. They in fact supported everybody, having been asked to support the Year 8 pupils in leading
activities by delivering demonstrations and coaxing children along to name but a couple of their
responsibilities. They were great sports ambassadors for our school!

Year 5 and 6 Netball: A report from Anna, Chloe and Maya – On Thursday, children from year 5 and year 6
participated in a high fives netball tournament at Forest Hall School. After playing five games, our A team
came 1st, and our B team also came 1st. Our C team came 2nd and the year 5 team came 4th. Everyone
played brilliantly; well done everyone.

Breakfast and After School Club: Our breakfast and after school club has started off really well, thank
you for the incredible support.

As this is a new club, we are asking if you have any unwanted activities that you think could be used when
the children are unable to go outside when the weather turns. For example, loom bands, jigsaw puzzles or
board games. If you think you could help or have any other suggestions for activities, please do get in
touch; thank you.
