2nd October 2020

Dear parents/ carers,

Another week ends, and here is the latest news and information for you, starting with an exciting Design a Christmas Card project with Prontaprint Bishops Stortford for this Autumn term!  Your child will soon be bringing home with them their design for a Christmas Card along with an order form.

As you will know, due to COVID restrictions the PSA’s normal fundraising activities have been severely impacted this year, but the school still needs your help to raise much needed funds.

The Christmas designs will be professionally printed and purchased at £5.50 for a pack of 12 cards bearing your child’s name on the back as the designer.  Every pack ordered raises £1.00 for the school.

You can also order Gift Tags, Wrapping Paper and Mugs of the same design, every order of gift tags will raise 50p for the school, Mugs are £8 and will raise £1.50 for the school and Wrapping paper is £7.00 and will raise £1 for the school.

All orders must be returned to the school classrooms by Wednesday November 4th.  Payment can be made by cash or cheque, cheque payments should be made out to Prontaprint and orders will be returned by November 17th.  Please keep designs flat and damage free, as marks will show on the final print.

Parent Consultations:  This terms parent consultations for years R to 5 need to run differently due to the current restrictions in place.  (Year 6 have received a separate letter for their consultations). We have decided to go ahead with face to face meetings though as we feel it’s important that you get an opportunity to speak to your child’s class teacher in person, rather than over the phone.

The Scopay online booking system will be live from Monday 5th October at 2pm, where you will be able to select an appointment time.  Should you need any assistance with booking, please contact the school office.

The consultations will be running on Monday 19th and Wednesday 21st October from 3.30pm – 6pm.

I will send more detailed information regarding the logistics of the meetings nearer the time.

Year 6: A reminder that If your child is in year 6, you can apply for a secondary school (year 7) place between 11 September 2020 and 31 October 2020.

More information can be found here: https://www.essex.gov.uk/apply-for-a-secondary-school-place

Parking:  I’m sure you’ll agree, the self-stagger start and finish times are working really well and I thank you all so much for your positive comments about its effectiveness.

I have noticed however, that there are some parents and carers that are blocking our neighbours driveways in Pimblett Row and Sages.  Could I please urge you to walk down School Lane and not park in Pimblett Row or Sages, for the safety and consideration of our neighbours – thank you.

Fire Safety:  The link http://www.essex-fire.gov.uk gives information on fireworks and home fire safety.

Miss Branch:  As Year 3 already know, Miss Branch has not been in school for the last two weeks after undergoing unplanned surgery (not COVID related!)  I would like to thank you for your well wishes and am pleased to say that although her recovery is taking a little longer than she would like, Miss Branch is doing well.  We have been fortunate to have Mrs Hobson teaching the children and she has been in regular contact with Miss Branch to ensure their learning has not been affected.   I am delighted she will continue to teach Year 3 next week while Miss Branch continues to recover.
